CELL PHONE-FREE SCHOOL DAY

๐Ÿ“ต CELL PHONE-FREE SCHOOL DAY

Beginning with the 2026โ€“2027 school year, Michigan law requires public schools to implement policies limiting student cell phone use during the school day. As a result, Mancelona Public Schools will be a cell phone-free district during the instructional day.

While this is a new requirement, we believe it will have a positive impact by helping students:
๐Ÿ“š Stay focused on learning
๐Ÿค Build stronger face-to-face connections
๐Ÿง  Reduce distractions
โค๏ธ Be more present throughout the school day

For our elementary students, this will feel very familiar, as cell phones have not been part of the school day. Middle school students will no longer have access to phones during lunch and recess, and high school students will experience the biggest change, with phones put away from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Families will still be able to reach students through the school office whenever necessary.

Thank you for your support as we implement this new state requirement and continue to provide the best learning environment for every Ironman.
