Mancelona Public Schools has made a decision to provide our students with an exciting promotion in food service beginning on January 5, 2009, including FREE UNIVERSAL BREAKFAST for all students at Mancelona Elementary and Middle School. The breakfast promotion will take place for two weeks from January 5-16, 2009 for all Elementary Students and from January 19-30, 2009 for all Middle School Students.
Universal breakfast shows that the link between breakfast and learning is a good reason for schools to expand school breakfast programs to reach more students. We know that breakfast improves the results of standardized test scores, attendance, behavior and emotional intelligence. School breakfast provides at least one-fourth of the nutrients needed by a growing child, and students who arrive at school without breakfast miss these important nutrients compromising their academic potential.
