Valedictorian & Salutatorian
Co-Valedictorian, Amber Elder
Amber Elder, the daughter of Roger and Renee Elder, will share the title of valedictorian with a 4.0 grade point average. Amber will attend Bethel College in the fall, and is considering an English major with a minor in music. A member of the high school concert band and color guard team, Amber is also involved with National Honor Society. Outside of school, Amber enjoys playing piano, stargazing, taking walks, swimming, reading, playing the guitar, and is a member of the high school student ministries team at New Hope Church. While not certain of her long term goals, living somewhere along the Atlantic Ocean sounds very appealing to Amber!
Co-Valedictorian, Melissa Wright
Missy Wright, co-valedictorian of the class of 2010, will graduate with a perfect 4.00 grade point average. The daughter of Robert and Kelly Wright, Missy has been a student in Mancelona Schools since kindergarten. She is a member of the color guard team, concert band, National Honor Society, and is the president of the local Youth Business and Professional Women's association. Missy will begin undergraduate studies in the fall at Saginaw Valley State University.
Salutatorian, Jonathan Smith
Salutatorian Jonathan Smith will graduate from Mancelona High School with a 3.96 grade point average. During high school, Jonathan was involved in band, choir, student council, National Honor Society, golf, the Ironmen Health Center advisory team, three 4-H programs, and was an altar server at his church. Since the summer of 2005 Jonathan has been a camper at Camp HayoWentHa in Central Lake, and he hopes to be a staff member there this summer. Jonathan's parents are Denise McFarren and Brent Smith. Jonathan will attend college in the fall of 2010, but remains undecided about where he'll begin his studies in engineering.
