Middle School January Reward

Band Hero 1

Understanding the social needs of middle school students, the 8th grade team provides students the opportunity to participate in a monthly reward. Each month a reward is planned that offers students the chance to leave their academics behind for a short while to enjoy the company of ther fellow students in a well-structured, fun setting. Reward activities vary each month and have included activities such as movies, both in-house as well as at the movie theatre, bowling, ice skating, dances, extra recess time, etc. For students to qualify each month for the reward activity, they can have no more than two missing assignments per each core class, their planners updated for the month, and no behavior referrals one week prior to the activity.

Due to all the time and hard work that students put in to studying for their semester exams, two of the three regular requirements were lifted for the reward for this month. Students had their choice of watching an in-house movie or playing board games and video games. With the help of the Choose Success program we were able to provide our students with a Playstation 2 and a Wii game console. Some students brought in their own games and equipment for these game consoles and one student even provided another console in which to allow more students more playing time. A great time was had by all!
