Valedictorian & Salutatorian '09

Amelia Fay Brancheau, daughter of Deborah Brancheau, has been named the Valedictorian of the Mancelona High School Class of 2009. Amelia will be graduating just a few days before her 17th birthday with a grade point average of 3.984.
Amelia supplemented her college prep curriculum with three online Advanced Placement courses through Michigan Virtual High School. In addition to her academic accomplishments, Amelia
has been a cheerleader for four years, participates in our freshman mentoring program, is a member of National Honor Society executive board, and is involved with Pathway Community Church.
Amelia is a vegetarian very concerned about environmental matters. She will begin her studies in the Sustainable Business Program at Aquinas College in the fall.

With a grade point average of 3.928, Loretta Baran is the Mancelona High School Salutatorian for the class of 2009. Loretta is the daughter of Robert and Dorri Baran, and will attend Northwestern Michigan College in the fall. Loretta intends to prepare for a career in environmental science after transferring from NMC. Loretta participated in the M.H.S. Book Club, Recycle Club, and the freshman mentoring program while in high school. Her hobbies include drawing and painting, reading, working with puzzles and games, and taking care of animals. Loretta also loves to travel with friends and family.
