MSBOA District Band Festival

On March 5th, the Mancelona Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Band participated in MSBOA District Band Festival. To participate in the Festival along with other bands in the area, the band had to prepare three pieces of music and then sight-read two pieces of music they have never seen before.

Everyone knows that a healthy breakfast is the best way to start the day.

Core Democratic Values Day 2009

On December 21st, 2009, Ms. McCain's eighth grade U.S. History classes
hosted a Core Democratic Values Day to share their knowledge and work

Mancelona MetalMen

THERE GO THEIR LEGOS

The Mancelona MetalMen competed against other middle school students from Northern Michigan on Saturday, November 14th in their first Lego Robotics Competition at Lake Superior State University. The team brought home a trophy in the category of Project Presentation in which they created a skit demonstrating their transportation problem of snowmobile accidents and a viable solution.

Middle School MEAP Testing

The Michigan Educational Assessment Program, commonly referred to as the MEAP tests, will be administered to our 5th through 8th grade students starting October 13th to October 22nd.

NEWSLETTER & the JOURNALISM CLASS!

This year will begin a wonderful tradition of the M.S. Newsletter being created entirely by students.  With the help of our newly establish Journalism Class the M.S. Newsletter will be completed monthly.  Mrs.

Lunch Procedures

We are planning to keep some of the same procedures as last year:
•    Students will have a choice to remain in the lunch room to eat and socialize with friends, go outside to play, or go to the library.

D.A.R.E.

All sixth grade students are offered the opportunity to participate in our annual D.A.R.E. program (Drug Abuse Resistance Education).  The class is taught once a week (Fridays) for thirteen (13) weeks ending mid December.  Additional information regarding the exact date for the D.A.R.E.
