Regional Athletic Director of the Year

The Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (MIAAA) selected Mark Nixon as regional Athletic Director of the Year.

Mr. Nixon is one of 14 administrators state wide to be honored by the MIAAA. He will be presented the award in Traverse City on March 19 at the annual MIAAA mid-winter conference.

On December 15 folks were treated to sixty minutes of musical joy.  Our 5/6 Band, 7/8 Band, High School Choir and High School Band students hit every note when performing holiday carols.  Band Director, Mrs.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA- an enormous success!

  Over 1,000 breakfasts were served to young and old during the recent Breakfast With Santa.  Activities enjoyed by the children included a Bounce House, edible and take-home crafts, face painting, free hats and gloves, a book of their choice to take home, a free raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize and,  most importantly, an opportunity to talk with Santa and enjoy

Communities In Schools of Mancelona, a local nonprofit organization, was one of five finalists for the “Outstanding Volunteer Programs Award” category in the 2011 Governor’s Service Awards. Gov. Rick Snyder honored the finalists during an awards ceremony entitled “An Evening with the Stars” at the Gem Theatre in Detroit.

The Mancelona Education Foundation Funds $17,000 in Grant Requests

This year’s MEF Granting was again a tough decision-making effort, but the teachers’ requests were well presented.  The continued goal of the MEF granting process is to fund projects and needs designed to benefit the students in Readiness 4 through 12th grade.  Over 25 grants were awarded, totaling $17,000.  The trips, projects and supplies requested ranged from $150

Flu Vaccine Oct 19

We're making it easy for families to get their flu vaccine this season--and many other immunizations children and adults may need. Public Health Nurses will be offering immunizations on October 19, 2011 at 4pm to 7pm at Mancelona Family Resource Center in Mancelona. Please schedule an appointment--appointments make immunization clinics operate smoothly.

22nd Annual MEF Dinner/Auction

2011 MEF Auction

The 22nd Annual MEF Dinner/Auction was another huge success! Five hundred dinners were served and over 150 items were auctioned.

Over $14,400 was raised to benefit our students in classroom activities.
